Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions (prescriptions which are ongoing) can be ordered in 4 different ways.  This allows you to order your prescription remotely and when the practice is closed.  Due to the risk of COVID-19, we would prefer patients to order by telephone, email, or online rather than coming into the practice.

1. Patient Access

Order Prescriptions Using Patient Access.

Patient Access (formerly EMIS Access) is a service which enables you to view and order your repeat prescriptions and book appointments online via the Patient Access website or app.  This is the preferred method for ordering prescriptions, but you need personal login details in order to use this.

If you would like to be registered for this service, or have been registered in the past and can't remember your login details, please speak to the admin team who will be able to help.

N.B. Due to COVID-19, you are currently unable to book appointments using this service, but are still able to order prescriptions.

2. Telephone

We have a dedicated telephone answering service, available for patients wishing to order prescriptions over the phone. This system is a recorded answering service only and will not connect you to a receptionist.  The telephone number for this service is 01259 742120 and press option 2. If you have any queries regarding your medication, please phone 01259 742120 and press option 1 to speak to a member of our admin team.

3. Email

Click here to fill out the online request form which is emailed to us. Alternatively, you can email your prescription request directly to the surgery by emailing fv.dollar-repeats@nhs.scot

4. Paper Prescription

Due to COVID-19, we are wanting to protect our staff and patients by minimising the number of people entering the practice and the transfer of physical items, such as prescriptions.  Therefore, we strongly encourage all of our patients to order their prescriptions using the online and telephone services above.  Our reception staff are more than happy to help you with this if you need it.  If you do not have access to a phone or the internet, you can fill out the form on the right hand side of the prescription sheet, and place it in the black letter box inside the health centre to the left of reception.

Prescription Processing Time

Please remember that prescriptions are only generated during normal working hours and prescriptions ordered at the weekend will be processed on a Monday (unless we are closed for a public holiday).  The pharmacy also requires time to order and make up the medication which we prescribe.  If your prescription is a normal repeat prescription, it will be ready to collect at The Health Centre Reception  within 48 hours.  prescriptions you require to collect at a pharmacy or Items not on your regular prescription can take longer to process, as additional checks are required before these can be issued these can usually be issued with 72 hours.
